KP Lake Area Property Owners Association Annual Meeting 2025
 Summary
(Full Minutes will be available at the 2026 Annual Meeting)

 ·         Introductions were made of the Board of Directors – Jon Buxton-President, Gary McDonald-Vice President, Bonnie Doremire- Treasurer, Becky Buxton- Secretary.    15 + 3 members and guests were in attendance before/during the potluck and subsequent meeting. All introduced themselves and identified their lake locations.

·      Members: Bob Knight and Roger Losey have passed since our last meeting

·      Secretary Report Minutes were read, there were no additions or corrections. Motion to accept and a second followed.

·      Treasurer Report 15 Members paid dues, Expenses of Huron Pines and website maintenance were noted. Balance on hand as of June 30, 2025 is $11,684.72. Motion to accept Treasurer Report as read was made and seconded.

·      Lake Steward Reports –Invasive Species: Roger Popp reported that in general, eradication is showing signs of improvement. As it is early in the season, positive identification of possible additional plants will be forthcoming.  Huron Pines will begin the process of treatment this fall, if warranted.    Secchi Disk Study: Mike Doremire reported that the lake condition and clarity is consistently favorable. Clarity remains at around 16 feet. Study is performed at the same yearly time frame, within the same locations.

·      Water Quality: Inquiries about whether the lake water had ever been tested. To our knowledge the only testing of water chemistry was done during the 2022 DNR creel study, aka Fishery Resource Report. It includes Alkalinity, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Chlorophyll. The results of that survey are available at   https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/managing-resources/fisheries/status-of-the-fishery-resource-reports

·      High-Powered Electric craft As electric motors become more powerful, members inquired if we could have a limited wake regulation. The DNR (who controls the boat launch and signage) will be contacted about any current or future regulations which could be posted. The President will contact the DNR to pursue this information.

·     A Facebook site has been developed by Becky, as requested by several members. https://www.facebook.com/share/g/1Q9BKtWjX6/  Please add yourselves and invite your neighbors. This site may be easier for many to access, post pictures, and initiate content centered chats etc. It is currently public, but will be switched to private when we get members.

·        Board Nominations The current board was nominated and seconded for election. Motions passed.

·         Reminders:
o   Fall Road Clean Up: Saturday September 27th, 2025 10am meet at KP Lake Rd and 612. There will be refreshments for helpers!
